Weekly Divination: What to Keep in Mind This Week (02 October 2022)

Greetings, gremlins, and welcome to our first reading of October! This is also the first reading that's actually locked. I'm still a little hesitant about doing things this way, but I need to start making content for supporters and this felt like an easy way to do that.

For our deck this month, we're cycling back to an old favorite of mine, my Celtic Dragon Tarot. I would love to use a deck that's more in the flavor of the season, but sadly, I don't own any Halloween-themed decks.

This week, we're joined by the Eight of Swords, which.... is a bit of a sad card to look at, at least at first. The woman, as we can see, is trapped by thorns and brambles, and it is those things that I'm drawn to first. Has anyone else felt bound or restricted lately? Or stuck? Like you absolutely can't move?

She thinks, perhaps, that the dragon in the foreground has come to save her, but the truth is that she's entirely capable of saving herself. The window may have swords along the top of it, but the way is open. Unfortunately, she's so focused on what binds her that she thinks she needs something else or someone else to help her when that isn't the case.

Much like the woman on this card, whatever you think you're restricted by isn't actually as restricting as you believe it might be. You have the power to escape whatever that might be but only if you open yourself up to the possibility that you do.

Now, it's possible that you're afraid to escape those binds. Maybe it's a job, relationship, or unpleasant situation. Maybe you're scared of what might happen after. But sometimes, it's in our best interest to leave things that do not serve us.

So this week... consider: what might you be bound by and is it actually in your best interest for those bindings to remain?

If you enjoyed this post and are perhaps interested in acquiring a reading of your very own, I do keep tarot commissions open over on my Ko-fi.

I also have a shop full of all of the commission readings you can find up there, plus a couple of extras I won't be sharing anywhere else. You can find it over here.
